Dumaguete City - The City of Gentle People
November 14, 2008I am currently at a Netopia Internet cafe here in Dumaguete city.
I woke up at 3 am, rode the taxi at 4, then by 5 im already checked in. The plane arrived in Dumaguete at 8:15 am.
The first part of Dumaguete that greeted me from the plane is the view of the shoreline. Then when we got off the plane, I had the impression that it is similar on some ways with Legazpi City.
Mike Ocampo from the Hari ng Negros organization was there to fetch me. He took me the Coco Grande Hotel.
After freshening up, I went out and just walked on the streets of the city. Then I had a breakfast of breaded fish steak and rice. After eating I am now checking my mail here in Netopia.
More to come: what I will do for the rest of the day; and the Hari ng Negros Legends of Sugarlandia show tonight.
Michael Johns Live in Manila!
I was riding the taxi along C5 today when I saw this billboard that says Michael Johns will be performing here in Manila next week! Michael Johns! Puppy Johns! I’m so excited!
I love Michael when he’s on American Idol. I even featured his performance on one of my posts before. It his version of The Beatle’s “Across the Universe.” I love his version very much that I always listen to it up to now.
When I found out so happy that I immediately searched the web for more info. According to Ayala Malls, here is his schedule:
TriNoma

November 19, 2008
Alabang Town Center

November 20, 2008

I will definitely be watching the Trinoma show. I hope to get out of work early to be able to catch it. Who wants to go with me? Hehe!
On other Michael Johns news, he will be releasing a Christmas song on Dec 9 on iTunes.
Friendster is acting weird today.
All day long, Friendster was down due to site maintenance. When it came back late this afternoon, I was surprised to see that my friend count increased from 468 to 1019! I thought it was just a glitch on the counter, but when I viewed my friends list, there is indeed additional friends that are included. I don’t know any of these people yet they have been added to my list. I don’t know if it is just me or others are experiencing similar problems too.
Hari ng Negros Legends of Sugarlandia is on tomorrow.
November 13, 2008
Finally, the show that I blogged about two months ago will finally be on tomorrow, November 15, 2008 9 pm at the Puerto Rico Entertainment Center in Dumaguete City.
Haris that will be there include Ralph Jadraque, Emman Labirua and Paul Brett Orozco. Princes from all the batches will also be there. The beauty queens from Negros will complete the list of almost 50 who will participate on the said show.
For tickets you may contact the Dumaguete Tourism Council. Tickets are also available at the gate of the venue tomorrow night. For inquiries you may contact Rico Absin at 09173140114.
I’ll be flying to Dumaguete tomorrow morning. I’ll post updates about the show. And I might also feature Doc Absin’s Christmas house if our planned visit will push through.
Climate Change Meet will be held in Malacanang
There will be a conference on November 20 in Malacanang Palace that will tackle issues on climate change.
The forum will be called “Carbon Cutting Congress versus Climate Change.” It is said that carbon and other gases contribute to the change in our climate that we are experiencing.
The output of this forum will be used by the Philippine delegation to the Conference of Parties on Climate Change in Poznan, Poland.
A similar conference was held in Albay last September. It was spearheaded by Albay governor Joey Salceda. Salceda will also be a speaker in this Malacanang conference.
The conference in Albay, the Mayon Trail Run (which was also aimed on Climate Change awareness), and even the Ms Earth Beauty Pageant makes people aware of environment issues. I hope that there will be more of this that will really affect ordinary people so that they can act on our environmental problems.
